On 25th July 1940 the Australian 16th Garrison Battalion was formed in Sydney to guard the three Camps 6,7,8 at Hay. Over 200 of those who enlisted from Hay during WW2 served in the Hay Garrison.. On 51h July 1943 the strength of the Garrison was increased from 546 to 688.
On 25th May 1943 Hay outpost of 41 Heaw Wireless Unit began operations and propaganda radio broadcasts to the Japanese in the north
On Sat 25th July at the Museum, from 5pm to 6pm there will be drinks, nibbles and music, when you can learn more about the 16th Australian Garrison Battalion + our Japanese propaganda broadcasts from Hay
