John Houston Memorial Swimming Pool

Officially opened in 1967, after ten years of fund raising and work towards its establishment. Named after John Houston, the President of the Hay Swimming Pool Committee for the whole 11 years the Committee existed.

Swimming Pool

It is now run by the Hay Shire Council, with FREE ENTRY. There are three pools in total: an Olympic size swimming pool, a "medium" pool, and the toddlers pool, which is completely under shade cloth.

The Olympic size pool recently underwent extensive renovation and it now has a "wet deck". Surrounding the pools is extensive, well-maintained lawns with numerous shade structures. There is also a BBQ and volleyball net that are free.

The John Houston Memorial Swimming Pool is open from November through to the end of March, and the opening hours are 12noon to 7pm every day except Wednesdays, when it closes at 6.30pm for the Hay Swimming Club Time Trials.
These times are subject to weather conditions and numbers. Entry to the John Houston Memorial Swimming Pool is free.
